Corrosion & Acid Resistance ❌ Basic spray paint, peels off within months βœ… 7-Tank Chemical Process + 90Β΅ Epoxy Coating
DC Arc Suppression Rating ❌ Regular AC breakers used (Severe fire hazard) βœ… Certified High-KA DC-Rated MCCBs
Interlink Connectors ❌ Thin aluminum or recycled copper βœ… 99.9% Pure Tinned Electrolytic Copper
Maintenance Bypass Safety ❌ Unsafe manual rewiring during maintenance βœ… Make-Before-Break Interlocked MBP
Technical FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common engineering questions regarding battery racks, DCDB sizing, and maintenance bypass panels.

Why should an AC breaker never be used in a DC battery circuit?
AC current naturally crosses a zero-voltage point 100 times per second (in a 50Hz system), which helps extinguish electrical arcs quickly when a breaker trips. Direct Current (DC) has no natural zero crossing, creating a continuous, high-intensity plasma arc when disconnected under load. Using an ordinary AC breaker in a battery circuit often fails to break the arc, causing the breaker to weld shut or explode into flames. Northern EPES uses exclusively certified high-voltage DC MCCBs with magnetic arc-chutes.
Can Northern EPES customize battery racks to fit awkward room layouts?
Yes, absolutely. We frequently design custom tier configurations (Single Tier, 2-Tier, 3-Tier Back-to-Back, or Wall-Mounted) tailored to the exact room dimensions, ceiling height, and floor loading limits of your UPS room. All racks are modular and bolted for easy transport and assembly on site.
How does a Make-Before-Break Maintenance Bypass Panel (MBP) protect my load?
An external Make-Before-Break switch momentarily connects the raw utility grid to the load *before* disconnecting the UPS inverter. This seamless overlap guarantees that your connected servers or medical equipment experience 0.00 milliseconds of power drop while allowing engineers to completely de-energize and service the UPS safely.
Can your Battery Monitoring System (BMS) integrate with third-party SCADA or BMS?
Yes. Our BMS controllers provide standard RS-485 Modbus-RTU, SNMP, and dry contact outputs, allowing effortless integration with any Building Management System (BMS), DCIM software, or centralized industrial SCADA network.
